Growing Orchids with Passion and Precision

Nestled at the base of the majestic Mauna Kea lies a tranquil neighborhood in upper Hilo known as Waiakea Uka. At Lee & Company Orchids, a first-generation family farm, we cultivate and process the world's finest CERTIFIED orchid crops.

Since 1987, our orchids have thrived under the natural tradewinds and radiant sun of the Big Island of Hawaii. With our expertise and commitment, we have produced and nurtured over a million orchid crops in strict accordance with the Hawaii Plant Quarantine Division regulations. Our farm holds certification from the State of Hawaii for exporting orchids.

Founder, CEO

Lee started out as a guava farmer

before finding his real passion in plants. After selling the guava farm, Lee went on to found West Coast Nurseries which specializes in palms and trees. Lee then sold that business and that is when he focused all his time into orchids and thus Lee & Company Orchids was born.

Loosing the orchid farm to the lava eruption

Where Every Orchid Tells a Story

We were among many orchid growers wiped out in the 2018 Kilauea volcanic eruption in Kapoho, where we had cultivated a variety of orchids for over 36 years. What used to be our orchid farm was gone, covered by hot molten lava pouring out of the famous fissure 8.

Even though our farm and the nursery were taken by the fast-moving lava river, luckily, with the help of so many wonderful friends, neighbors, and the community, we managed to save and relocate most of our orchid plants; a little over 10,000 of them, including smaller equipment.

It was a significant loss and a painful adjustment, but with our passion and love for orchids and strong family ties, we were ready to start over and make it happen.

AND WE DID IT!

From Our Fields to Your Collection

We take pride in offering rare orchid cultivars you won't find in supermarkets or mass-market stores. We have tailored our business to meet the discerning needs of true orchid collectors.

As a small family farm, we pour our hearts into every aspect of our work. We hope you feel the care and dedication in each orchid we produce and that you enjoy them as much as we love growing and nurturing them.

Your satisfaction means the world to us, and we eagerly welcome your feedback. We love to hear from you!

With much ALOHA from the Nishimoto Ohana!
